A New Space to Work, Show, Talk

©Antwerp Design Week

12 is a project by AIM EU that has revitalised a registered Art Nouveau gem (1907) located at Kattendijkdok Oostkaai 12 in Antwerp. Through this regeneration project, AIM showcases that even subtle interventions can yield profound impacts on spaces and their surroundings. The renewed space not only preserves the building’s historic beauty but also establishes itself as a creative and cultural hub, aiming to bridge Eastern and Western influences. 12 is envisioned as a mixed-use building, encompassing an exhibition space, a café, an event venue, and the studio’s creative offices.

‘Our purpose is to bridge cultures through design, art, events, and community engagement. We envision becoming the go-to place globally, blending cultures, sparking creativity, and leaving an imprint on urban landscapes. Our mission is to surround ourselves with passionate and creative minds eager to make positive impacts on the cityscape with us.’

orgos Maraziotis (1984, Athens) holds an MA degree in Fine Arts from the Royal Academy of Fine Arts Antwerp. He has also studied Silkscreen at the SVA in New York City and Visual Arts at the University of Wolverhampton (UK).

His multidisciplinary practice – spanning in sculpture, printmaking, design, and archiving – questions con-temporary habitation and human relations. Through language and mediums of the plastic arts he ex-plores the social, cultural, and architectural identities of public domains and art institutions. His artworks often gain a sensorial narrative and attempt to co-exist strong antithetical notions such as private-public, pleasure-discontent, danger-safety.

His work has been exhibited in group and solo shows internationally. He lives and works in Antwerp. In 2023 he had a solo exhibition at Base Alpha Gallery (Antwerp) which also presented his work at Art Brussels 2024.

We are excited to invite you to the opening of Unlocked Landscape, a captivating design exhibition, part of Antwerp Design Week, curated by Simone Chen, and designed by AIM EU. About Unlocked Landscapes

Inspired by the poem and paintings of Wang Wei, Unlocked Landscape explores the profound relationship between space and nature. The exhibition delves into the essence of “Shanshui,” a concept that transcends the conventional understanding of landscapes, transforming them into spaces of inner contemplation and spiritual experience. This theme resonates deeply with the current era’s need to reconnect with the vastness of nature amidst technological distractions.

Unlocked Landscape promises an inspiring journey through innovative furniture designs and artistic expressions. Additionally, we are excited to welcome three Belgian designers: Grint, Krum, and Stolp. We are proud to showcase their work as part of our ongoing mission to bridge Eastern and Western cultures through design.

12 is initiated by AIM Architecture EU, a collective of passionate, international individuals.

Founded by Belgian and Dutch architects Wendy Saunders and Vincent de Graaf in 2005, AIM brings together architecture with interior and product design to create wholly integrated products and ideas. Headquartered in Shanghai and with offices in Chicago and now also in Antwerp, AIM is a global studio with local feeling. Our approach is deliberate and focused. Each project is approached individually. We pair context to concept and explore the fine line between vision and practicality. The result are unique spaces with a powerful narrative. Bold, playful, and gritty. Well-built projects with refined details. A built-in love of materials, and passion for place and purpose.
